Major Improvements Underway at Woolpit Village Hall
Woolpit Village Hall is set for a fresh new chapter as a series of long‑planned upgrades begin to take shape, starting with essential electrical work and a full refurbishment of key public areas.
Over recent months, trustees have been working through a programme of improvements designed to modernise the building and ensure it continues to serve the village safely and comfortably. One of the most significant projects has seen the replacement of several of the hall’s ageing high‑level lights. Many of the existing fittings have reached the end of their life, and the new system will provide brighter, more reliable lighting while improving energy efficiency.
Work began today (18th May 2026) on modernising the electrical fuse boards, combining several antiquated circuits into one more sophisticated design. This will make the Village Hall much more future proof. Although this meant we have had to close the doors for three days, we are confident that this is the right time to do this work.
Alongside the electrical upgrades, the trustees are working on the project of a major refurbishment of the entrance area and toilet facilities. These spaces are some of the most heavily used in the building, and the planned works will create a cleaner, more accessible, and more welcoming environment for all hall users. The improvements will also support the growing number of community groups, classes, and private events that rely on the hall each week.
